The loss of a non-profit status can have a devastating effect on the organization, the lives it impacts and the communities it serves. In this seminar we will discuss how to protect your non-profit's exempt status along with ensuring your organization is emanating best practices with the non-profit sector. This seminar will provide you with a detailed compliance checklist for each operating area of your non-profit.
Learning objectives

· Be able to identify situations that could put your non-profit's tax-exemptions in jeopardy.
· Learn how to protect your non-profit's tax-exempt status.
· Learn the IRS "hot button" issues that should be on every nonprofit leader's radar.
Presenter: Melissa Metcalf Le Roy, a graduate in Entrepreneurship and Business Law of Western Carolina University and a graduate in Non-Profit Management of Duke University teaches non-profit management classes throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia for Duke University and Western Carolina University. She is a past board member of the North Carolina Center for Non-Profits. For four years she contributed a regular "Non-Profit Leadership" column for the Tryon Daily Bulletin and currently offers her services as a consultant through her own firm OnFire Nonprofit Consulting.
